I'm not a sniper or ever have been. However, I've been shooting for many, many years and frankly, shooting has been about the only sport I ever excelled in. I love to hunt, fish, and I also love traditional archery. I spent a total of 30 years in the Air Force and Air National Guard, mostly in munitions (AMMO)...I also spent 30 years working for the State of Missouri, mostly as a veteran's representative.
I've always been a history buff, especially the American frontier and the War Between the States. My family has been serving our country for long before it was a country.
When I wasn't building bombs, I was working in logistics, and I'm always intrigued by those people and units in the military that are not run of the mill. We were a supply point for the Guard and reserve in the Mid-South and I saw tons of high priced, very cool equipment come in for Air Force, USMC, Navy and Army folks who were deploying around the world. I also saw tons of cool equipment while I was deployed in 2006. That kind of stuff runs unimaginative supply sergeants crazy. When we started signing point of sale purchase orders for ACOGs, rifle cases, etc. Some of the supply types almost lost it. Like I pointed out, this is easier and cheaper than the way we did things in the 70s. Back then an awful lot of specialized equipment was made locally by shops on base, and none of it was interchangeable with other bases.
Mostly I will be just reading. I do have a notion of building or saving for a Vietnam Era M40 rifle...so that info is always appreciated.
Glad to be here.
