I am purchasing a used gap ar10 in 260 today. I am on the fence on keeping the 260 or rebarreling it to 308. I have a lot of 308 bullets, powder, and brass on hand and no more 308 to load them for. Should i keep the 260 and sell the 308 reloading supplies or rebarrel and sell the 260 barrel. Please help me out.

Re: help 260 or 308

I recently bought a .260 and own a .308. If I only could keep one it would be the .260. It does everything the .308 does and does it better in my opinion. If you are going to shoot tactical comps .260 definitely works better.

KC.....you shall come to realize that one MUST have his or her "go to" .308......you just have not settled on yours yet......keep up the search grasshopper and acquire the .260 ....but cry you must because the brass from gassers suffer..............

Re: help 260 or 308

Keep the 260!! You can size down the 308 brass an make 260 brass if need be. The only thing you can't use is the bullets.

The 260 is a much better round hands down. I have both an hardly ever shoot my 308. The 260 is much nicer to shoot an deadly accurate. Whats not to love!!!!

Re: help 260 or 308

It's an AR10. Just get a .308 upper for it and you'll have the best of both worlds.

Re: help 260 or 308

If i go 308 i am going to rebarrel not get a new upper. But i will let you know if you are still interrested in the barrel. I am going to try the 260 for a while i think.
