I have a winter time range in my backyard and can shoot to about 1300 yards.
I spend weekends out there with my rem 700 in 308 . I try and get my brother to shoot with me but he only has an xbolt in 7mm rem mag. After 20 or so rounds that gun is sickening.
I am going to buy him a new gun and have narrowed it down to
I do have reloading equipment and enjoy that part of the hobby

Savage model12 LRP in 6.5 creedmore or
Tikka t3 varmint in 7mm-08

We will likely just play with this gun, this includes steel up to about 1000 yards.

Enlighten me with recoil opinions , brass life barrel life.
Whatever you can tell me

From all the lurking I have done, it sounds like he 6.5CM is where it's at. Good factory ammo availability great ballistics and mild recoil. That's on my list of calibers to get.

I need a backyard like that.
