I was just cleaning up some of the brass I shot last week and noticed these marks on some of the cases I body sized before the last firing. This is the first batch of cases I have ever body sized, as I typically just neck size and have never had a problem when chambering, until recently on this particular batch (my oldest brass). It's Lapua brass, has 26 loadings and has never been anealed. I don't have a case comparator to measure how much I bumped the shoulder, so instead, I just bottomed the die onto the shell holder and rotated the die in 90 degree increments from there until I could close the bolt with very little felt resistance.
And here you can see the soot in the extractor groove.
The body sized loads are still shooting on par with how they were before.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if this is normal, no big deal or a red flag. I feel the inside of the case with a bent paperclip after each firing and have yet to feel any signs of case head separation.
