I need help building another 308 rifle.
Short history: I am an experienced competitive shooter who shooters pistols and carbines regularly, and long guns on occasion. My last build was a 700 action with a Mike Rock m40 profile 1/11.25 25" long bbl in an AICS 2.0 chassis with Leupold m3 3.5-10. I love the rifle, it shoots 1/2 moa or better, but is uber heavy. Most of my shooting is under 200 yards and seldom beyond 600 yards. I\
I am thinking of building something light, kinda XM3 ish in dimension
I want the following:
m4 bottom metal (I am done with the detachable mags)
A1/3 McMillian Stock
700 Action (kinda a given because they are cheap)
Mike rock bbl
I want to end up with an 18.5-20" barrel length.
I am thinking the M40 profile is on the heavy side, XM3 profile is 1.20" in at the receiver and .850 at 18.5", and the good old Remington varmint contour is kinda pedestrian.
What do you think?
