I plan on purchasing a bolt action in 300 blk to use with my AAC suppressor and subsonic ammo for deer hunting (ethical shots of course). I may occasionally shoot supersonic ammo as well.

Right now, I am considering the Remington 700 and AAC Micro 7 bolt action rifles. I realize the Remington is about $150 cheaper, but it is heavy and comes with a bull barrel and Hogue stock. The AAC is much lighter and a smaller overall package. It also includes a 1 piece scope base. Both have threaded barrels.

Do any of you have experience with either of these rifles in the 300 blk? Is one more accurate than the other? Is there anything I should know about these two rifles to help make my decision? Right now, I am leaning toward the Micro 7 because it just seems logical to use a small, lightweight and handy rifle for this particular cartridge.

Thanks.

I have no experience with either rifle in 300 blackout, but I can say that I hated the Hogue stock on my Remington 700 sps tactical. If you do go with the R700 plan on upgrading the stock asap as it is not free floated like advertised and has a flimsy feel to it like an oversized rubber band. Other than the stock on it, you can't go wrong with a R700 but that AAC micro 7 does seem sweet and may fit your needs better.

Both are Remington, the micro is the Model 7. IMHO the 300blk is an up close and personal chambering. There is virtually no recoil, so if it were me I would get the Micro as a pack rifle. As with any rifle, accuracy will depend on the variables. It will much easier if you reload, but there are some new factory offerings from Barnes and Nosler. I have a AAC Handi with 1:7 and it is about a 1.5-2 MOA rifle, but will eat any premium to garbage bullet I put down the tube.

Either way, you dont get a 300 blk to shoot bugholes, it is meant to be lean and terminally effective( on game.)

One more thing, the Micro, with its short LOP, will be a great rifle to get any kids, girlfriend, or spouses into shooting.
