Help me with build options (338 LM)

Hello Hide,

I want to do a new build - 338 LM.

I already have the barrel blank - bartlein 5R steel 32 inch blank in 338

I’m asking for help because the barrel shank is 1.35 inch and tapers down to an inch. What action options do I have because of that?

I’m new to builds like this but it looks like some actions need 1.25 and some need 1.35…?? I’m out of my lane on trying to understand these things, but is there any reason why my 1.35 inch diameter barrel can’t fit an ARC CDG or impact? I was also thinking about a defiance action too.

You can have the barrel turned down to 1.25" or anything under 1.35" as long as it isn't a carbon wrapped barrel.

Yes thank you - I’m against doing that though. I’ve heard that can really impact the harmonics of the barrel and ultimately precision

Leaning toward another ARC CDG

Yes, the only thing that won't work are larger actions. Will work fine on standard Rem 700 clones like the ARC CDG.
