How about "Schatzi"? Just a joke.

3-12X, 56mm objective, Jena glass, made in the DDR. I'm guessing 1960's?

Good luck.

At one time, Schott had a glass manufacturing facility in Jena, Germany. It may still be in production I'm not sure. Also, Karl Zeiss' body was laid to rest in a cemetery in Jena, Germany.

My guess would be that you most likely have a Jena Glassworks manufactured Zeiss optic. The vintage is unknown without a serial number search.

Translation of "aus Jena" from the side of the optic is simply "from Jena". Pretty good indication.

If my memory is correct I believe there was some affiliation to Jena Glassworks by IOR Valdada back in the 80's and 90's.

It's a Zeiss Aus Jena, basically an East German Zeiss, they are now known as Docter. It will be a good thing!!!
