Ladies,
My 2001 Neon R/T ACR has killed it's tranny. I have the all the replacement parts except for the transmission to fix it.
Requirments are as follows:

2001 Neon ACR R/T
5speed M/T ACR transmission
Mopar High Torque Clutch(I have NIB)
Gear Shift Bushings(I have NIB)

2000 - 2001(may use High Torque trans from others[2002 - 2004] such as SRT4 if fitment works, I do not know though, professional mechanics?)

Without a replacement tranny, my car will have to be parted out leaving us with a new car monthly payment. This little heated up sedan is paid for and has two sets of wheels(dedicated snow, and Fusion V rated's on 13.5# Motorsport Alloy Race wheels), a killer sound system(Memphis Audio, Blaupunkt & JBL pushing 650W in parrellel, 12" Memphis Audio Sub), Sun Roof, Complete ACR package, 'Ignition work'(no speed limiter, Cruise Control at 90mph, TAylor Spiro Core wires, ACR Coils), Custom Exhaust, K&N FIPK.
This car was bought brand new, and has been driven by Panty 6 and myself since we bought it. PMCS and Unscheduled Maintenance has been 100% completed as needed.
As you see, we do not really want to part this thing out. We really need the trans to get it back together. I can get another five years out of it if I get the replacement trans.

<span style="font-weight: bold">IF ANYONE CAN OFFER ASSISTANCE on locating the correct low gear set ACR transmission it would be greatly appreciated</span>

Most neons in the scrap yard are there because of the tranny. You may be in for a long hunt my friend. I had a buddy with the same car go to back out of my drive and as he let the clutch out the tranny broke and spit all of its fluid down the drive. It sat there for quite a while before tranny shop got it out of my drive due to the hard time of finding a replacement.

Uh, if I were to find something around me here in Canuckia, would you want it? Could it be done?

I don't know of the ICAR rules and regulations regarding the international trade of vehicles and their "multi-use" parts exchange.

Seriously though, all joking aside, I'll have a look around here, if there's a way....

Re: HELP! Need 2001 M/T Neon R/T ACR Transmission

I very well may be wrong on this but if my memory serves me correctly I believe that the trannys from 95-99 n/a eclipses/talons will bolt up. The engine is a 2.0 DOHC is it not? 420a engine code? The gear ratios would be different I think but may still work and its worth looking into. Like I said I may very well be wrong but its worth a shot.

*edit* also depending on you clutch set up you may have to swap bell housings as they are different between the cable actuated and hydraulic set ups and now that I think about it I believe all the gear ratios were the same but the final drive ratio was different between eclipse/talon trannys and neon trannys.

Re: HELP! Need 2001 M/T Neon R/T ACR Transmission

My engine is a 2.0 SOHC. The car is an ACR R/T and has the Mopar High Torque clutch pack. The trans also has a lower set of gears for quicker movement from 0 - 60, drag racing, and road racing out of the corners. It does not have a proper bell housing. It hooks directly to the viscous limited slip posi track transaxle.

If the part comes from Canada, no sweat. I prefer a solid functional piece with less than 50k miles on it so I can expect more mileage before a malfunctions comes along again.

Sent out a few more part quote requests from a solid PM I got, Thanks!

Re: HELP! Need 2001 M/T Neon R/T ACR Transmission

I'm willing to bet it still the same tranny. Rather than change individual gear ratios Mopar often just changes the final drive ratio. I bet your tranny has a 3.55 final drive versus the 3.94(i think) final drive of most. Check the code on your transmision and post it here. NV-T350 is what was used in the avenger/neon/eclipse/talons but I think they coded the trannys with 3.55 final drives differently.

Re: HELP! Need 2001 M/T Neon R/T ACR Transmission

Fuund a High Torque 5 Speed from a low mileage 2001 2.4L PT Turbo. This is the same 3.92 final drive tranny that is currently in the car as OEM ACR R/T. Called the shop to have them arrange it all with the contact info.

The Neon's were given a standard transmission for all the 135hp cars. The 150hp ACR's, R/T's and ACR R/T cars were equipped with the same High Torque, Low Geared tranny that was used in the first run PT Turbo 2.4L cars. Having driven a few loaners with standard transmission vs my own ACR R/T I can say there is a world of difference in the way they move the car.
Padron, Donut, and a few others have sent me many links to hunt through. Thank you for your support. The Hide always comes through!

Re: HELP! Need 2001 M/T Neon R/T ACR Transmission

We will find out this afternoon. I called the shop after checking with Theel Auto on the trans in question. AS of this AM they have still not received a call from the shop to make arrangements. I called the shop to let them know that one 'Amy' will be there until 2 awaiting their call for the trans.

The trans we are looking at is from a 2001 2.4L Turbo PT Cruiser. It is the exact same trans that is OEM for the ACR and R/T Neons of the same year, or all 150hp cars(if memory serves the PT Turbo was 175hp)

If it falls through Mech, I'll PM you

Re: HELP! Need 2001 M/T Neon R/T ACR Transmission

Best bet is to go find a used neon as they are going dirt cheap, buy one all banged up, beat up etc and take it from there then sell it off as parts.

Have a friend with an 01, she takes goodcare of it but it has rare hiccups like popping itself out of gear going up hill...
