I've been toying with the idea of putting a prefit 26" 7.5 twist barrel on my Ruger American 6.5 CM in a Magpul Hunter stock. The purpose of the rifle would be a 400-800 yd deer hunting rig using the 156 EOL.
I already have a heavy chassis Savage action 26" 6.5cm match build, and a super light Kimber Hunter 22" in 6.5cm. The Ruger is already very accurate, but I don't want two 6.5cm 22" rifles and the Magpul stock added a good amount of heft.
Any recommendations or advice on barrel contour, manufacturer, twist, etc? I've looked at Preferred, McGowan, PVA. All seem pretty reasonably priced.
