I got the call from krieger telling me my barrel is finished and on its way. Its a 308 win, 1 in 10 twist 30 inch barrel thats going on a ruger rpr. I got the rpr cheap and it came with a timney trigger already on it for 900 bucks so dont chastise me to much. I have a 18 inch 308 that i load for but i cant find much info on where to start with the 30inch. I wanna shoot 175 smk hpbt, 200 smk hpbt, 210 bergers and the 200.20x bergers. Can somebody gimme some ideas of what powders to start with and what weight charge to start with

    Load data from the interweb?
From other PRS guys in 5.11 pants?
    :)
    Kidding of course.
Check published data for starting points for the bullets you want to shoot.
The problem is there is no published load data for a 30 inch tube. Ive seen some 26inch data but no 30 inch. Id like to hear from somebody that has a 30 inch 308 that can give me some safe starting points.

I bet krieger could tell you where to start.
    30" 1:10 sounds impressive.
    How did you pick that?

Lots of published load data is derived from 24" test barrels.
    Start there.
Buddy holly has a 30 inch 308 win and keeps it in .5 moa at a 1000 yds in decent wind. So i decided to get one. It was 595 dollars with shipping

30 inch 308 win is very popular in F-class. Reach out to those guys. I would think a stiff load of Varget in Lapua SP brass w the Berger 185 Juggers or 200.20x would do good. 185 are easy to tune and the 200.20x can be finicky.

What chamber is it? How long is the throat? That makes a huge difference, those heavies are loaded pretty long to keep the bullet in the case neck and not back into the case, hogging volume.

I am interested in the weight with bipod attached. Wondering if it makes F/TR class weight.

I told them i wanted a barrel that could shoot 175 to 210 bullets and to cut the chamber to accommodate those longer lengths. The guy on the phone new what i was trying to say before i said it. Couldnt say enough good things about them. I called em, made a custom order and didnt have to put any deposit down. They had a 4.5 month lead time and when it was completed they sent a email telling me to pay up
