Im trying to put together my shopping list for 338LM reloading.

Does anyone use and recommend RCBS Gold medal bushing neck die set? Part # 16606

I somewhat chose this die set due to the window bullet loading. Looking at my press (RCBS RCII) with a 338 case held to it, it will be very difficult to load a bullet above the case, I thought the window in the die would be quite nice, and also assumed it was a very good seater die.

If you think I should piece together a set instead let me know, ie: RCBS seater, Redding body, Forster neck, etc.

I will be loading for a factory Savage 110BA

Thanks

Re: Help with 338LM dies

Ah thank you, I searched "redding shellholder" on midway and did not come up with them, but searching that part # worked.

Went ahead and ordered the Gold medal full length bushing set since it was clearanced and only 2 left, hopefully it works out ok. Not sure why all the RCBS 338lm dies are out of stock right now until june?

Re: Help with 338LM dies

I use the Redding Competition Neck sizing die set for my 338LM. I use a 0.365 bushing. Results are great.

If I had it to do over, I would use the Redding Type S full length sizing die with either a 0.365" or a 0.364" bushing. The Type S full length sizing die would save me a step, as I usually need to use the body die to bump the shoulder back on the brass every time after just a couple loadings with the necksizer.

For a seating die, I am completely happy with the Redding Competition Seating Die (with a micrometer head). For another caliber, I have the Forester micrometer seating die and find it to be just as good as the Redding, but it cost less $.
