Hello everyone. The requirements for my next build are; long barrel life, remington long action, .470 bolt face, 20-22 inch barrel, and something practical for 100-500 yards and it will not have a brake. It will be used for mule deer, witetail, hogs, and steel. I already have a .223, 300wm and 338 Lapua. Im thinking .270 win or 30-06 but maybe something heavier like 338-06, 35 Whelan. I am going to be giving it to my son in a few years. What are some of the pros and cons of the various calibers? I do handload. The more I think about it, 30-06 seems like the best option because they can be loaded way down or way up. Thanks a bunch.
