Well.....i have sold this rifle twice now. Once to my brother and once to a neighbor and it has come back to me both times---this last time in less than a week--
Between my seller's remorse and other folks' financial issues, it seems this rifle and I am bonded somehow. Which is great, cause I sure do love shooting it.....lol.
But, now that I have it again and intend to keep it, I would like to tackle a scope mounting project that I have been putting off for some time and am hoping someone here can help....
Rifle is a sako 75. When I first got the rifle, uso made some bases for the rifle that I picked up and put in a box. I would like to mount them up but don't know enough to be confident in how it will all work---or where to find the right kind of screws. The bases a cut to fit the angled dovetail on the receiver and require a gentle tap with rubber mallet to seat fully. From there, I don't know what to do. Does the single set screw provide enough upwards pressure to secure the mounts? do i need to drill and tap the receiver (which I don't want to do). What size screws are they?
anyway, if anyone has any ideas or experience with these mounts, I would be most appreciative.
First pic shows the receiver and the dovetail type rings used on the sakos....second two pics show bases.....
