Hey all
Nube reloader here, Got to the range with my new rig. A DPMS 308 (24" varmint series) The hand loads I had were LC brass, SMK 168 HPBT, OAL 2.800. It shot sub MOA @100-

no feed problems what so ever. We had a real good time at the range that day in fact I have never shot that good. Next time out had same thing but using SGK 150's. Would not load them all the way in to the chamber. Obviously, OAL is wacky on the SGK's. Does/has anyone have an OAL measure using this bullet in this rifle. Just wondering.
Thanks
MRB

That's sum funny shit. The best thing I would think it to measure the chamber and work off of that, but you would have to figure it for every bullet, so the book measurement might be easier unless your trying to load for optimum accuracy. Now bare in mind that I'm no pro, but knowing just where you rifling starts should mean that your loads "load" everytime!

Re: Help with OAL

Books are not allways true, depending on where the lands start. This DPMS appears to be a bit tighter. thats one of the reasons I asked if any one has a OAL for this bullett in this weapon.

BTW do you know any one that loads without a book or two?

A book maker's OAL is what was used to develop the published data and it's no more a 'rule' for anyone else than the powder charges they list. That won't change no matter how many manuals you consult. ??

Everyone using any bullet in any rifle has an OAL measure but if anyone else gets the same results with the same OAL it is pure chance; find the OAL your rifle likes best and be done with it. Sounds like you already have a good load, no change is likely to make much difference.
