I bought an AR-7 over the weekend (in black). Mostly as a toy. But also in case a safe full of other stuff fails me. It took me a long time to make the decision to do so because I had read a number of questionable review with respect to quality. However, as I looked into it in more detail it seemed that those reports were primarily centered around some of the previous manufacturers (there have been quite a few since it's inception in 1958). And I have to say that I find it a pretty neat little rifle. Obviously it's not going to shoot down a helocopter like James Bond used it for in Goldfinger, but as a "just in case" gun it'll do to take a rabbit at 20 yards just fine. And the fact that it all packs up about a foor and half long and weighs just over 3lbs is nice too. So, if you've got $200 to blow take a look. It's fun to shoot and a good conversation starter.

It was my first rifle. I got mine for Christmas when I was seven. I think my father got it because he saw it in "From Russia With Love" and thought it was cool. In that movie it's used to snipe a bad guy. It's not the best "first rifle", I preferred the .22lr bolt rifle, but they are pretty cool. I remember it having problems feeding but that might have been the ammo I was using. At any rate, they are pretty neat. Enjoy.
