Instead of doing just 1 target, I did 5 targets with the same setup for more definite results.

Heres what I got. They were shot in random order, not from low to high or high to low.

I used rem brass, cci br primers, H322 from 22.2gr to 24.5gr and 52gr smk seated touching the lands. Everything was sorted by weight, brass uniformed, etc.

Shot from a factory unmodded Rem 700 VLS .223

Opinions?

Small square targets are what I use, if you have a high magnification scope, you can center on a corner or if square is large enough, you can place crosshairs to divide that square into quarters; now you can see you are lined up properly. Really does make a difference. With your oblong handmade bullseye that is not good enough for consistent shooting (reticle merges with target), all IMHO of course...

I agree... But from 300 yards my crosshairs covered up the dot just about perfectly.. so when the dot was gone = good aimpoint. I just kept that same aimpoint for every shot.

Ive looked over this a few times... I'm thinking 24.0 and 24.2 are looking good.

My next step is 23.9 24.0 24.1 24.2 24.3

The max vertical spread (approximate obviously) is pretty good for those two charges, on an unrelated note.

I measured the distance from the point of aim on each target for those charges.

24.0 the max spread is 1.2" vertical.
24.2 the max spread is .8" vertical.

Hey Tom

Good shooting mate! I would say your on to something and I would do exactly just that.

Do you have access to a chrony? If you do the muzzle velocity thats most consistent usually speaks the truth provided its set up correctly.

Thank you sir!

This was my first time shooting a rifle in over a year.. i've missed it. First time shooting this .223 in like 2 years... Starting from scratch pretty much as far as a "go-to" load.
