Hello everyone!

I joined the forum tonight as a Google search popped up some information I was looking for. I read a couple of posts and decided to join, as I figured there may be some really good information in these forums.

Would you mind taking a little time and linking your favorite threads in this site? I'm looking for any good information that a newbie would find useful.

I'm buying my first hunting rifle next month and I've decided on an Armalite AR10T 20". I'm pretty excited about it. I figure for the price it should be a good beginner for me. I've already started looking around at accessories.

Thank you!

Can't assist with a "favorite" thread as there are just far too many informational threads on a huge array of topics to narrow the field, but let me just welcome you to the Hide. A couple of quality links are located below in my signature line, including a link to the Google-based Hide search engine as some find the forum software cumbersome and difficult to navigate, as well as some of the Hide FAQ links. Tons of great folks here with more information than you could possibly ever absorb (or probably need to absorb) in a lifetime.

I probably spend more time in the Semi-Auto forum than just about anywhere else as that is where my personal precision rifle interests have been for quite some time now, so I'd suggest, especially with your current project desires, that you swing in and have a long look around that particular sub-forum. Off hand though, I have always been thoroughly impressed with the Armalite offerings, including their 10T models. They are phenomenal rifles in every respect, have some of the best accuracy for an out-of-the-box rifle in that price range (way under-guaranteed by Armalite as every one I have laid hands on was easy sub-MOA capable with decent ammo and a shooter that knows what they are doing) and will serve you well for a LONG time. You may want to consider opting for the AR-10T Carbine (the 10T's lighter, shorter, more easily moved about and handled afield little brother) as I have run the hell out of a couple over the years with excellent results. It'll cut the weight and the OAL down a fair bit (~2lbs lighter and 3" shorter depending on what muzzle device you end up with), and as long as you don't need the extra range/terminal performance the longer barrel will afford you, the 16" barreled model will get the job done on hogs, whitetails and like game animals out to 600yds without missing a beat (and potentially further depending on you, your ammo, etc.).

Again...welcome and good luck on your AR-10T project rifle!

Thanks for the reply and the comments! I'll check out the semi-auto forum. I'm pretty set on the 20" barrel but maybe my friends can talk me into the 16". 2lbs can save a lot of energy over time if you're huffing it around.

Thanks again!
