The 2009 Session of the Virginia General Assembly legalized possession of suppressors and approved them for use in hunting as well. It passed the Senate 33-5 and the House 99-0.

The following House Dems voted in favor in 2009 and are still in the Legislature for 2020. Ken Plum District 36, Mark Sickles District 43, and Roslyn Tyler District 75.

Senate Democrat was Richard Saslaw District 35. Also new Senate member Joe Morrissey District 16 voted for it when he was a House member in 2009.

I encourage Virginians in the districts listed above to contact their representatives and urge them to not ban suppressors after they had supported them in the original bill.

The rest of you should write your Democrat or Republican representatives to oppose any legislation or offer amendments to exclude suppressors from any new gun laws.
