hk mark 23 discontinued

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

I lusted after one for many years till I owned one. It is strictly a range toy and not good for a lot else. I sold mine a few years ago. The USP is much more useable for my needs.

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

well it is the only pistol to be considered an offensive handgun and also the only pistol to be considered a primary weapon.

It is huge, no concealing it thats for sure

You forgot to add that it was met with minimal enthusiasm by those that received them. And while it is capable of impressive accuracy, it certainly does not justify the $1200 difference between the Mk23 and a USP Tactical. Money aside, most would view the smaller USP a better trade-off for the slight loss of accuracy.

"Offensive Handgun" what a crock of shit. Sounds like a term a hardcore liberal would use.

iam just telling you what hk told every one else, i have held one but never shot one so i cannot add personal experience, would i buy one ? oh yes even more so now that they stopped production on them, would i carry it... in a drop leg holster only lol its the only way.

they are nice thats for sure, my usp tac is also nice and even that seems big to me

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

hmmm too much HK cool aid. i saw them when they first came out, was lucky enough to work with guys who were issued them. but in the end, they were left behind in the arms room for a reason. i never seen one in theater in 4 tours, and i was fortunate to work with TF guys.

Not bashing you, just stating in my experience the end users were not thrilled with the choice and continued to use the M9.

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

Wierd, I thought they discontinued the Mk23 like three times already - just keeps on keeping on anyway...kinda like the Judds.

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

I've kept mine NIB w/its KAC suppressor as "safe queen" - I bought it for $1450 (without suppressor) - I hear they are a bit more now...

as stated thats how hk markets the pistol and thats all the "rage" with the pistol

as good as that handgun may or may not be i could not make head shots with it at 50 yards so

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

Guess the Mk23 will be a collectors item sooner or later. price went up from 1400 to 1600€ in Germany last year. If HK stops producing that handcannon, its value might increase...

I like my Brick, never failed me, put over 3000 rounds through the barrel and counting.

Wish I had the chance to shoot suppressed...but I won't get a permit for a KAC (or any other suppressor) over here.

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

The Mk 23 wont be the only HK pistol going the way of the dodo any time soon. I spoke to a couple of HK LE/Military reps a couple of weeks ago at SRI. They said that the USP line "is getting long in the tooth" and with the P30, HK45 and P2000 it only makes sense that HK consolidates their pistol line up.

I asked specifically about the USP-CT. I was told not to "jump the gun" if I wanted one in the next year to 18 months. After 18 months, no promises could be made.

Of course I had to ask about the MR556. After all of the eye rolling and heavy sighs, the answer I received was this: "We at HK are well aware of our shortcomings, but what I can tell you is this, when it does come out...it'll be right."

I had wondered if the HK45 would replace the USP 45 A.C.P. model- looks like I was right (eventually)

Last I heard the MR223 was to be out at the end of Dec. 2010, I hope that`s true.

The P9S was pretty decent too,,especially in .45acp

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

Believe me, the MK23 is not a functional gun! It is like a short man owning a HUGE 4x4. It's called the PENIS ENVY SYNDROME! Small guy has to compensate for something else that is BIG! And vice versa! That's why I own a USP COMPACT 45. Lol

Re: hk mark 23 discontinued

The MK23 works very well and is a great weapon. It is just made for a very specific niche and has been surpassed by other systems. Basically it's a sidearm that was designed to be a primary arm.

It has some very useful features that you don't find on other guns, but for the most part the HK45 and the HK45c work best for most people and the .gov people the Mark 23 was originally designed for moved on from it many years ago.

lol thats some goofy shit...

i think the mk 23's size and weight along barrel length make it what it is... vary accurate, mount a 2 lb kac can and it seems like a decent shooting system, i bet a good pistol shooter could go out to heck 75 yards easy with it and make center mass shots

I don't own a MK23 but I would, only if it were a REAL "SOCOM"! I'm not knocking the pistol, just not a pratical piece that I would carry into combat.
