Do you have to "find" the dot/circle when you get behind a holographic sight like on a red dot or is the dot stay centered like on a regular scope? Never used a holographic before and trying to choose between it and a red dot for a PCC. Thanks!

The dot on both a holographic and a red dot will float in the window based on your placement behind the optic. Modern/quality optics (Aimpoint, Eotech, etc)will have some parallax when you get to the edges but it’s minimal and really shouldn’t impact accuracy on a PCC given ammo and ranges that they are typically used at.

If you are trying to “find the dot” you aren’t using the optic correctly. I am a LE / NRA instructor and I see this all the time, especially in pistol optic classes. The key with a red dot or holographic sight is to focus on your target, present the firearm and the dot will appear in your line of sight. Do not focus on the dot. Focus on your target. It is a hard process for experienced shooters that are so used to picking up their front sight. But you need to train your eyes to be threat focused and not front sight / dot focused.

I run a Burris fast fire now on my 9mm AR.
It’s fairly nice and I like the open field of view.
I have no issues getting on the dot fast, just get on the gun looking on target and it’s there.
I’m seriously considering an EOTECH 512 for something a bit more durable.
