Night vision newbie researching options for red dots that have NV settings. Found the Holosun Elite 400 series meets my budget. Anyone have any experience with them? This will be mounted on AR style rifle with A Steiner Otal IR C laser. Thanks in advance.

I'm curious also. Do you intend to mount a PVS-14 behind it or try to look through it while wearing a monocular? I'm pondering the same question, but I worry about burning a little dot in my tube with a mount.

I am planning on using a helmet mounted PVS14 in front of my non shooting eye.

I have not. I am a complete newb to NV.
I run a PVS14 helmet mounted on my shooting eye and can get behind the NV dot on my rifle mounted Trijicon MRO okay. It is not ideal, but doable. Just be sure you have a IR illuminator mounted on the rifle towards the front of the rail as the ir light on your helmet will reflect and wash out the dot if turned on behind the scope.

I've tried it on the shooting eye and I agree, it's doable. Laser is really the only sure way I've found. Never tried the non shooting eye, didn't really think it would work well.

What would you suggest? Most say use PVS14 on non shooting eye? Ideal illuminator/light placement?

I was hoping the red dot and Steiner IR laser w/helmet mounted PVS14 would be a good combo for short distances?

With the exception of putting down the pen trapped hogs I am all thermal in my hunting exploits. But justifying cost aside, if I was going to make my ideal setup then one of the Steiner options is where I’d drop my coin....the Dbal D2 being what has my attention, but this is from observation and comments here on SH and not experience.
