Looking for a decent holster for my Sig.

I want strong side OWB carry that can be CCW under a jacket, so nothing too loose or bulky.

Suggestions with personal experience are the most helpful, lord knows I have a box full of holsters that "some guy" says worked well but were total crap.

Re: Holster for Sig p226

Lot's of good holsters for the Sig 226. My Sig P220 ST fits in the same holsters.

My choice is this:

Blackhawk CQC Carbon Fiber

Hey they work so well I have 2, and for less than $26. they are affordable. These are non-Serpa (no retention thingee). I have one set up for Tactical matches with a Serpa Jacket Slot Duty Belt loop, for Drop offset (adds another $16.), and another just for CCW with the paddle (they come with both a paddle and belt slot backplate).

Of course neither my P220 nor your P226 are ideal for CCW, as they are rather large, service pistols, but hey have fun.

Re: Holster for Sig p226

Bob, thanks for the recommendation. How's the CQC sit with the paddle? I had one for my Beretta but it seemed to really hang out away from my body too much for a good ccw holster. Didn't have a paddle though.

Agreed the p220/226 is a big gun for totin' around all the time, but I generally prefer larger pistols and don't mind carrying them around so it works for me.

Re: Holster for Sig p226

It rides closer to the body with the paddle, than with the belt slot, for whatever reason.

But again not ideal for really discreet CCW again due to pistol size. I have smaller pistols when I need to go stealthy, including a Sig P245 and a Sig P239 9mm. They are much easier to cover.

For those I use a Kramer Gunleather MSP Horsehide Paddle for each. I don't bother with that for the big P220. I will say that the Kydex draws faster and smoother, than from the leather holsters.

+1 on Blackhawk, it's my primary carry set-up and I always use the paddel reguardless. The paddle holds it tight even in draws, but easy to take off too. I carry a full size 220 just about daily, heavy yes, but what's a little weight when you're talking about your life.

I was looking at some safarilands that would hold a tlr-1 on it, but decided I'd rather not have the light on there. I usually prefer to bring my surefire g2 instead of a weapon mounted light, to avoid having to draw my weapon if I just need a bit of light for something.

I know that feeling. City neighbors look at you funny when you do that.
