Don't use one myself, but one of the members on here posted up something a while back about honeycomb that they purchased from a camera site I believe and cut it themselves. I don't recall it adding any length. Do a search and you will probably get a more definitive answer if that were an options for you.

This is dependent upon the grid pattern and how tight the honeycomb is.
