Has any1 shot this? I picked up 20rounds as part of a 308 lot. The box states 3170 fps out of the muzzle. I cant Imagine what this would do to a deer as I have seen what my 17hmr will do to a squirrel!

Re: Hornady 308 WIN 110gr TAP

I haven't bought any 110 TAP.....but I have reloaded my .308 with the 110 grain AMAX bullets.....got great accuracy results with it.

Re: Hornady 308 WIN 110gr TAP

I have shot Coyotes and Prairie Dogs with 110 Vmax which are the same bullets. They are devastating for both. The TAP rounds I have shot out of a Rem. fac. gun with excellent accuracy, but the fell off past 300 yds.

I don't know that I would use it on deer--it's such an explosive round (i.e. varmint) that it may be too superficial. I have had this bullet (110 grain V-max) launch prairie dogs 20 feet.

Deer head shot, go for it.

I've had similar results with the 110 V-max on prairie dogs in terms of hang time and wouldn't hesitate to use them on deer. The last two deer I've taken were with the 120 gr V-max out of a 7 mag and had no exit wounds in either, both dropped within 15 feet.

Re: Hornady 308 WIN 110gr TAP

We use it at the PD for Open air engagements for the terminal effects. Great accuracy as stated. Past 300 the winds start to move it around pretty good. But, I did shoot a 1" group at 300 with my AI. Good day for me is an understatement!

Groundhogs don't like them much though!

Mine shoots 3267 around 63 degrees!

I have shot these also and out past three hundred they spread as bad as two feet in the wind.

Re: Hornady 308 WIN 110gr TAP

I have had pretty good results with the 135gr SMK's and Benchmark. I can get .250 groups at 100yds and ~3070fps from a 26" bbl. I'll probably use these instead of the 110V-max for woodchucks. Last weekend I was shooting 270yds in an 18mph full value cross wind and the horizontal spread was less than 3". I might try some of the 110 V-max's with Benchmark. Here's a pic of the target using IMR4895. Its the same velocity as the Benchmark load but not quite as accurate.
