Hornady 6.5 130gr eld match?
10/24/2016

Does midsouth know something we don't? I googled it for a bit and found no info.

Yes they did and they jumped the gun on posting it but they are out as of today. Here is the new list of ELD-M bullets. Lots of good stuff on the way.

Wow, talk about a lot of new bullets... figures, right after I placed a large "stock up" order.

G7 of .351 on the 6.5 147 ELD looks very impressive... probably run great out of a .260. Probably no slouch out of my 6.5 Creedmoor either, although the little bit of extra case capacity of the .260 will come in handy.

Well don't worry Kiba. Give them some time to get them out and you will be through your stock up order by then and you can restock with the new bullet of choice. ;)

Oh, it's going to take a while to use up this order... LOL

Rob, have you got a chance to play with the 147 ELD yet?

Not yet. Just heard about it over the past week but looking forward to it. I think I should be able to get it going out at around 2800fps from my 28" barrel.

Keep us updated... the longer barrels should shine with the heavier bullet. I'm currently getting excellent results from the 140 ELD out of my 24" barrel running 2785fps, but will probably go 27-28" on the next barrel especially if the 147s work great. Wonder if 8 twist will still be OK for the 147s or if a 7 or 7.5 twist would be more ideal. All just speculation until overall length and bearing surface is out there.

Either way, nice to see so many options out there now with all the new ELD's from Hornady and the new RDF's from Nosler. I figured Hornady was going to flow down the ELD tips and geometry to other calibers eventually, but didn't expect this many new bullets this soon.

I'm liking the sound of a 130 AMAX. Gives up just a hair of BC to the Berger 130 VLD or the 130 Hybrid, beats the Sierra 130 TMK, and it shouldn't cost $0.40 a bullet. Get them up in the 2900 fps range and let them fly!

The ELD line has been awesome for me so far. Only problem with the new line up is too many excellent choices! Can't decide on the 130, 140, or 147 ELD-M for my 26" 260 Rem..

I'm also very very happy to see Hornady making two very promising looking loads foe the 260 Rem, both the 129 Superformance and the 130 ELD-M.

It's interesting they went with the 130 ELD for the 260 factory match, and the 6.5 CM get the 120, 140, and 147 ELD-M.

I like all brands, but this Hornady lineup with the highest per caliber B.C, Doppler Rader confirmed all the way to 800 yards, and best prices have GOT to have the other companies sitting at the drawing board. Bravo Hornady.

Can't wait to try the 130ELD-M in my 6.5CM AR. Should be a good combo.

I'm little surprised that the G1 BC for 123 ELD-M is lower than 123 Amax considering that the G1 for 140ELD-m is much higher than 140Amax? Is it because the G1 for 123Amax is overstated?

I believe so... the 123 amax is a great bullet, but the true B.C was lower than advertised. The 123 ELD I'm sure is spot on. I've found that hornadys data on the 143 ELD-X is spot on out to 800 yards.

I was just doing some bullet searches a couple/three weeks ago and thought, "Man, I wish Hornady would do a 130." I don't know why, but I like the 130s for a middle ground for speed and wind....and I like Hornady bullets for the price.

I know the 140s seem to rule to roost, but I like pushing those 130s over 2,900 fps.

They are being released as a 1st quarter of 2017 product so expect them then but as with last years ELD releases some might be coming out earlier.

Just picked up a few boxes from Midway of .264 130 ELD-M, and .224 52g and 73g ELD-M. Cant wait to test these things out. Hoping my 6.5cm semi likes the new 130's and will also test them in my new 6.5x47L. Also, the 73g .224 are $7/box cheaper than 77smk 100ct box and they have a much higher BC. Cant wait to test them out!

I loaded up an OCW last night from 42.6-43.4g of H4350 for my 22" Bartlein 6.5cm semi. BR2 primers and 1x annealed Hornady brass, .02 off lands.

I loaded 5 foulers at 43g which chrono 2754 SD8.6 on the V3.

They shot great with really good accuracy. Found a node between 42.8-43.2 which was good because 43.2 and 43.4 started to show pressure signs. I am now loading up a seating depth test with 43g to shoot tomorrow.

I shot my seating depth test yesterday and the results were excellent. Groups shrunk right up. I am betting they will be even smaller, it was a super windy day at the range yesterday blowing 25+. We use hangers for our targets so that thing was blowing around. Very happy with these new bullets. Velocity is 2738 with SD9 out of my 22" 6.5cm Bartlein AR.

Great results. Could you measure the bullet length for me for the 130 eld?

They are consistent at 1.3095"

I tested these in my new 26" Bartlein 6.5x47L this week. They were extremely accurate and velocity was pretty good.

Wanted to confirm accuracy so I went out yesterday to shoot some five shot groups. It was freezing and the wind in my face had my fingers numbs in a few minutes so I only shot this one group. Will test out to distance next.
