In want 7.62x39 SR primer brass for custom 7.62x39-.308 rifle.

How does fully prepped (Lapua SR primer size specific primer pocket uniformer, turning case necks) Hornady 7.62x39 SR cases compare to Lapua 6.5 Grendel SR cases formed into 7.62x39 cases (from virgin cases) also neck turned.

Goal is to have 7.62x39-.308 SR primer brass that will keep tight primer pockets for many loadings up to 6.5 Grendel pressures.
Not trying to improve ED, SD, velocity or accuracy, just keep tight primer pocket for as manny reloads. FL sizing die be made using cases fired in chamber.

Lapua 7.62x39 brass has LR primer pockets, I want SR for the additional strength of case head.

Cheers, Allen

The pressure and chamber dimensions have a lot to do with how far your 7.62x39 Boxer primed brass will last.

Semi-autos can be one of those stories where brass goes more than ten cycles, or it can be one and done, all depending on pressure and chamber size. If you run high pressure, and your chamber is loose down near the case head, it may not matter what size the primer is in terms of brass life.

In a bolt rig where the brass doesn't get as much abuse, you may find a difference between large and small primer in terms of case life, but even then if you run high pressure a lot will depend on your chamber dimensions.

In any case, in for the range report.
