Join contest SubscribeI ran testing with 6.5 CM using 135 gr and 153 gr A-Tips. Both shot sub 1/2 inch groups and velocities were running similar to 140 ELDMs I usually shoot. At more then twice the cost, I personally don't feel they are worth the excessive cost. A-Tips are running .71 each and ELDM are .27.
I ran testing on the 6.0 CM using the 110 gr A-Tip and had virtually identical performance to the 108 gr ELDM. So here again, I do not think it is worth the cost.
They are fucking excellent BUT who the heck can afford them.
Friends of mine really enjoy them but they only buy a box to just say they did.
They group well and distance calculated performance is good, but still not worth the expense.I’m assuming you are just talking about groups?
You should see a significant performance difference with a .030 BC difference.
Both the 230gr and 250gr A-Tips shoot wonderfully in the 300PRC.....HOWEVER, for less than 1500yds...they are just too hard on the wallet when the 225 ELD-M's do the job just as well at the shorter ranges.
Well put !! LolI bought some 110 A-Tips before the Berger 109s were announced, so I'll be shooting those up this season before trying the 109s. Hopefully Hornady re-evaluates their marketing and pricing, and drops them into the $0.50-0.55/bullet range (and ditches the ridiculous packaging) to compete more directly with the new 109s. I thought it was funny that they went out of their way to showcase the premium packaging, wipe cloth, etc, when they're being marketed towards guys that shoot thousands of rounds a year and just want to open a box and start loading.
