Hornady black Creedmoor velocity in 22 incher

Just got my new HMR setup and out to the range. I was shooting mostly the Black ammo from Hornady (140 gr BTHP). This ammo measured 2570 FPS avg with SD 9.8. Quite a bit below advertised velocity. I know the gun is new and will probably gain some velocity with use but I was wondering how my numbers are compared with what others have found. It was on clearance at Academy for $89/100 rounds so I picked up a couple hundred mainly for the brass. The rounds looked like crap. Packaging was in great shape but the actual rounds looked ten years old at least lol. Full of tarnish. Shot 1 MOA in my gun. The Hornady American Whitetail 129 Interlocks gave 3/4 MOA. I can't wait to get a set of dies and really see what it can do.

I got a HMR and the Hornady American Gunner and the Match ELD ammo shoot right about the same speed you are seeing. I also checked it in a Ruger RPR and the speed was about the same as the HMR. Only thing is my HMR doesn't like the American Gunner but loves the Match ammo.
