    Hello All,

Need some guidance here as I think I am over thinking being cooped up inside....

I was bored and bought a Hornady OAL Gauge and some modified cases. For this I am speaking of my 6.5 Grendel. I did some measurements and I am getting the below with a 120gr ELD Match...

Modified Case = 1.210” Using Headspace Comparator

CBOL = 1.745” using OALG and 5-26 Bullet Comparator.

    OAL w/ Bullet = 2.280” using callipers

Typically I bump back to 1.215”. Using the above should I be at 1.720” CBOL or so? Thinking taking back 0.020” of Jump?

still pretty new to reloading any help is appreciated... thank you

Not exactly sure what you are asking.

If you are confident in your 1.745 BTO measurement, and you want to jump .020, you’ll seat at 1.725 BTO.

Are you questioning if you need to consider the difference in location of the shoulder between the modified case and the location of the shoulder after you bump them back?

Thank you for the reply. I guess that’s where I was stuck in my head and thought it makes a difference and was confusing me. But now taking a step back it shouldn’t right?

I think what also confused me as well is the CBOL for 123gr ELD is 1.760” with an OAL of 2.350”. The 120gr ELD 1.750” with an OAL of 2.280”. 120s make sense if jumping 0.20” but the 123s confuse me. Throw in the 0.005 difference of the modified case.

Any thoughts on all of this is appreciated.
