Hornady Seater Die for 338 Lapua

Re: Hornady Seater Die for 338 Lapua

That might do...if the seater is not as hardened as the sizing die. If you have a Hornady seater in another caliber, try the file test and see if it cuts easily. If too hard you'll ruin your reamer. Dies are cheaper than reamers.

and running the reamer in so it fits my chamber (338 Lapua Imp 40)

Does anyone know if this is the correct die size? </div></div>

I started out with the Hornady generic 338 cal neck sizer for my 338LM loadings, but quickly went to some other dies ending up with Redding bushing dies for sizing duties and the Hornady In Line seating die.

I can't help you with the specific seater you're referencing, but if you go that route, make sure you get the Hornady Micro Seating stem for your seater.

I use two for a few cartridges and they work well enough, that I don't feel the need to run out and buy the Redding Competition seater, nor the Forster Micro Seater.

I have both of the others and a Forster for the 338LM, but the Hornady stem is a nice addition for ~$22.00. I still use it for 223, 22-250 and 308.
