Rifle Scopes Horus Hawk questions

Re: Horus Hawk questions

It's not a target type fine reticle, but it's not thick by any means. To me it's about as thick as a run of the mill duplex, maybe a little thinner. It's a FFP, so the center part of the reticle is hard to pick up on 3X, but it does have thick stadia on the left and right. Here's a crappy pick through the reticle at a 14" X 24" cardboard target at 285 yards:

The picture doesn't do the glass justice, as the camera used is getting returned to Best Buy for a second time for focus issues. HV scopes are made by Hakko Optics. The glass is nice, clear to about 1mm - 2mm from the edges on 12X; obviously not S&B or Zeiss, but I could easily read .308 shot holes at this range on the pictured target. The two orange dots on there are 3" dots. Tracking has been perfect as well, with me doing a lot of shooting this past summer working on load development with a couple of different loads using lots of different powders and primers. It returns to zero every time.

To answer your other question, I bought this scope so that I could shoot out to 800+ without fiddling with the knobs. Haven't shot out that far, but I don't anticipate any troubles. The tube seems plenty tough for wandering the woods of VA, and so far I have been very happy with it. This rifle was built with intent to be a do it all general hunting rifle, and I think this scope fills that role well.

Here it is on a home built LR-308ish rifle:

I couldn't be more happy with it. BTW, the yellow chair is my brass catcher.

Re: Horus Hawk questions

Outstanding! I am going to put my order in.
Are the adjustments under the caps finger adjustable or coin adjustable?
Thanks for all the info, it was exactly the info I was looking for.
That is the most flavorful brass catcher I have seen. Freakn awesome.
Thanks again!

Re: Horus Hawk questions

I've tried everything to catch brass, but the chair works best! That and it looks like its going to drool all over my gun!

The turrets are finger adjustable, are in mils scale, and can be reset to numerical zero once you get dialed in. The book says to zero at 100yards, and to use the reticle to compensate for distance.

I like having the mil/mil going for me with this scope. My range card for this says that I need 11+ mils to get to 1k yards, and when I get the chance to shoot that far, I think I can dial a few mils on the turrets to give me the adjustment needed to shoot using the 8 mil hashmark on the reticle. Who knows if the bullet will have enough ass to get that far with anything resembling accuracy, but I'm sure ready to give it a try!

Re: Horus Hawk questions

I am sold on the scope. I think I am also going to pick up one of those chairs that has a quasi roof on it.....yeah shade and grabbin brass.....golden.

Thanks again for the info!
