Movie Theater Hostiles

I saw it on Friday, and thought it was pretty good.
The movies main theme is centered around the physiological effects of war and how the various characters deal with it. There is also an analogous perspective on who the real “hostiles” are, and a realization that the two enemies are actually the same in many ways.
The setting throughout the movie is the beautiful north west, and it’s vast expanses is best viewed through the big screen rather than waiting for it to come out on disc.
The movie is not so much an action movie, rather a drama that’s pretty deep, but the action scenes are spread out well enough to keep an element of suspense.
I say go see it.

Saw last night, i agree about the theme and traumatization of war. Cinematography and OST were incredible, absolutely loved the shots they got, gorgeous on the big screen. I knew it wouldn't be an action movie because i'm a fan of Scott Cooper's last movie with Bale "Out of The Furnace". The movie was good and most of the cast was superb, just didn't really move me in anyway or leave me wanting. It was a solid movie, maybe it will get better among the second viewing. I thought Rosamund Pike overacted a lot which is strange because she is a phenomenal actress. The fight scenes were weird to me it was like the bad guys had 100% accuracy and the good guys couldn't hit shit. I'm also from MS and some of the dialogue i had a hard time understanding lol.
Watched it a few days ago. I am not a Christian Bale fan. I thought his face was stuck in that sad frown. I agreed with the rancher's lack of accuracy being sad and not realistic. Even a bad marksman with a Henry should be able to hit a man or horse at 50y. He should have taken down 5-6 of them before getting waxed. Not sure why he was standing in the open. A little cover & concealment goes a long way. Instead of sending the girls running, I would have armed moma and older daughter. They might not hit much but they would keep em jumpin. Reduce em down by half fast and then keep picking them off. I never understood why Bale's character kept using his revolver to take long ass shots at the Indians when he had a lever action rifle on his saddle, #WTF?
In the scene where Bale, et al attacked the three mountain men who had captured and raped their women folk. They were lying in wait with the high ground and numbers and the element of surprise. Why not kill them all in a barrage when all three were out in the open? Instead they waited until they went inside and attacked them up close and lost one of their men in the process. Bad tactics in my view. I know those old, slow BP rifle rounds may not have killed all that quick like they do in the movies but even if one got away, he was not going to get too far. Even with all of the political BS mixed in, the story was good and I liked the movie. 8:10
