Fucking idiots. The most intelligent person was the guy telling his girlfriend to not leave the vehicle while cars/trucks were coming. This is what happens when people buy vehicles that do most of the work and alerts the driver of possible issues. People just cannot drive anymore.
I live in Oak Grove, MO. Like 2 minutes from where this occured. Easy to judge people, but this is a blind hill. When u come over the null, you have no time to stop on clear roads. My wifes school mates son died last week just down the road from this accident. Same condition, no time to stop. It was clear roads, and when he lost control on refrozen water at the bridge he got hit in the door and killed. SETH BECK......he was 18. Soooo easy for people to judge!
I have lived in heavy snow/ice areas and there are set rules to follow when driving on slick roads. I cannot speak for what happened with Seth but in the attached video it sure did not look like people were following those rules. I am sorry the young fellow was killed.
I live in OP.........drive 69 highway to 35 to front street at least 6 days a week..........sometimes multiple times a day. I grew up in NW Missouri.........less than 20 miles from Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska...........I am close to 64 years old, I have seen road conditions that only people who have lived as long as me, and the same country as me have seen.................I am sorry that anyone has to loose their life, but if you grow up in this area.............you learn how to drive.
I don't know the conditions, or what happened with your wife's friends son..........any time any one looses a life is a tragedy.
There are shitty roads, intersections......hills.........whatever........if the road conditions are going south,..........slow down........you just might live to talk about the shit that is going on........

We've had unseasonably heavy snow here in SE AZ. Being from Upstate NY, the general consensus is that despite decades of experience driving such conditions, staying home and off the roads is the only wise course.

In that video you cant see a quarter mile. On dry payment a semi going 55 to 60 has a stopping distance of roughly 500 to 550 ft.
I still think every person should be put in a semi driving simulator before they get their license. You dont understand it until you have been behind the wheel of a semi going anywhere. I dont care if its stop light to stoplight or on the interstate. Usually truck drivers are the first to slow there speed in bad conditions, atleast the ones that have a clue.
That interstate accident was started from probably 1 or 2 cars and they were probably looking at facebook.
Sorry to hear about your friends son, truly terrible and you know more of the facts than I know but for that interstate accident video you aren't going to tell me that those cars flying between the semis were being cautious.
