I have a machine shop and I'm trying to find some guidelines on how to build a rifle. Anyone know a good place to find these guidelines? I would like to build it from scratch. My friend built a mcmillan tac-50 look alike, he did a great job on it, hes a good machinist but I'm out now to outdo him!! I just need to know where to start. it looks easy and I have the reasource to do it, its all done legal everything is registered. I'm looking for something like a Barrett M82A1

Re: how do i build a rifle?

You're going to have to be a little more specific. Do you mean a bolt action rifle, an AR, ect. There are plenty of videos, some better that others for sale. Also there are many threads here where some guys guide you through the whole build. If you have machining experience, you should have no problems once you buy all the tools needed for the job. Good luck.

As long as you don't sell/transfer it, and you are legal to own, it's fine.

manufacturing firearms, yes. building rifles for your self, no. this is assuming you aren't building anything that is prohibited by fed or local laws.

i'm guessing you are not in the united states.

do something like your buddy's but add some extra touches like an integral recoil lug, integral tapered scope rail, etc.
