Suppressors How do I change trust beneficiary

How do I go about changing my son from being the beneficiary to a trustee on my trust. The trust was done through a lawyer, do I need to go back to him and have the trust rewrote or can I do an amendment of some kind and have notarized. It is set up now with me and wife as trustee's and him as beneficiary, would like it setup for smooth easy transition upon our deaths and to allow him access to use stuff.

Shouldn't you ask the lawyer that set the trust up for you?

OK thanks. I have left a couple messages with lawyer and he never calls back. Thought I'd ask since I read people changing trustee's with a simple amendment.

Pretty sure if its a revocable trust you can make the changes in front of a witness and notary. I'm not a lawyer though so don't take what I say 100% accurate.

I think the Settlor can add or remove Trustees as he/she sees fit.

The lawyer is your best option. However, an amendment is a simple process. You don’t need the same lawyer to do the amendment that wrote the trust, just another trust lawyer. You can technically do it yourself, however I recommend having a lawyer do it and sign off on it so he/she takes the liability.

Edit: I am not a professional, though. This is just my understanding of how it works.
