i have loaded the following to start testing,is this to much to start,how do you guys decide where to start and how many options to try.

cfe-223
berger-168 bt target
start at 43.0 up to 47.5
.3 gr.increases

vititaniori-n-150

this is what i will go with for now,any other way to figure out what shoots best in your rifle,this is a lot of work but very enjoyable.coal is 2.850 i will start playing a little bit with seating depth once i have decided on powder.these have to fit in mag so not a lot of play.am i heading in the right direction.
rifle is 308 colt/cooper
 
How many bullets/load; 2-3 each should be enough? What distance will you shoot; 200 yd is a good compromise to magnify the vision of the nodes, but not too far to get killed by the wind? Look up Dan Newberry OCW technique for good detail of the procedure. After doing this a number of times I found that the observed nodes agreed well with the barrel time calculated by Quick Load vs Optimum Barrel Time calcs. You are on the right track.
