How hard is it to sell a gun online?

Re: How hard is it to sell a gun online?

it's pretty easy. make sure you accurately describe the gun, get cashiers check or USPS money orders, check the buyers FFL on the ATF EZ check web site, and send the gun to the address listed on the web site. i have shipped guns via USPS and UPS. both have their little quirks, depending on who is working the counter that day...

selling a handgun means you need an FFL on both ends to ship.

Not hard at all.

I have helped handle several estates for local folks whose husbands died and left a lot of guns. They came into the PD and I was able to list their guns on Gunbroker.com and ship them out through an FFL, to an FFL. Never had a problem... and actually made a few friends in the process.

I will be glad to give you advice if you PM me. But the short version: Accurate descriptions... good pictures... and be willing to take ANYTHING back if buyer is unhappy. Some buyers are just never satisfied... smile, give them their money back and drive on.

And keep everything legal or even more than legal.... Ship out through an FFL even if it costs a few bucks... Ship to an FFL. It costs a little more, but worth it.

FYI, my friends in BATFE have consistently said that there is no specific 'number' of transactions that you have to make before you need an FFL. But if you start buying/selling a lot, you *may* end up crossing a non-existant line that noone can define. It is definitely best to work through an FFL.

Cheers,

Sirhr

I have sold many over the internet without a problem. The biggest problem is making sure the FFL on the other end accepts guns from none FFL but if they don't just use your local FFL to ship it. Make sure the funds clear prior to shipment!
