When looking at a product I am considering, find the star ratting, just to the right it will say how many reviews there are, if there are not at least a couple of hundred you might as well be testing a prototype, do not buy it. Click the number. On the left of the screen there is a break down by star rating, The high ratings are mostly BS, click the one star ratings, start reading the truth. Most of the time you will see that you only wanted what was promised not what was really being sold.

It is also known that competitors give bad reviews. And go so far as to purchase the product to be a "verified buyer". The whole rating system is somewhat of a joke.

But you are correct, less than a couple hundred reviews and you have to becareful. Biggest issue is knock off crap from China. That is what has ruined Ebay if you ask me. Amazon is trying not to go down that hole, but it is hard when price rules everything.
