How important is metplat trimming/bullet tipping

I was looking at purchasing the Hoover metplat trimmer and bullet tipping die. I am not a competitive shooter but always looking to do better. I am shooting 22-250, 6.5 x 47 lapua and .338 lapua magnum. Should I "buy and cry" or is it not worth the trouble?

I don't do it, presently. But I think for 600 yards and 1K ranges I'm going to start. I believe at those ranges, there may be an advantage to it. I haven't seen anything to indicate to me that it's advantagous to do either under 300 yards. Most of the benchrest shooters I know used to do it have since ceased doing it.

The meplat trimmer reduces the variation in BC and also reduces the BC
The meplat pointer reduces the variance in BC and also increases the BC.
