Depends on how you plan on cleaning it up after you pull it and what kind of clean up you did when you dropped the action into the bedding.
If you plan to clean it up with a mill, you can leave it in over night. If you plan on cleaning it up with a razor knife or similar instrument, you want to pull it when it is hard enough to be firm but still soft enough to dent with your fingernail. This is hard to describe you just know it after doing a lot of them.

Take a blob of the left-over bedding and smear it on a piece of paper towel as a sample- you can test it for hardness later.
