I was a Fire Direction Specialist for 155's? So am I kinda snipery? I mean we put steel on steel at 14,000 Meters...

Oh and I went to a 2 week Long Range Marksman course That was a MTT from Bragg and they were Snipers?

I was responsible for a M24 for 2 years as a SDM in our battery ( C 1-37FA ) I shot 1118 meters with it once...

I brought it to Iraq in 09 and It stayed in the connex for 12 months except when a Master Gunner thought he was going to shoot the dudes mortaring the base... ( it wasn't even zeroed and he only had 7.62 ball lol)

But alas I am not a sniper....

I think most of the real Snipers, weather it be LEO, or Military are pretty humble in the fact that, that is their job, and it is just as such a "job". All of the B4's I knew in 1-14CAV and 1-23INF didn't brag or boast.

I would guesstimate that of the 64,902 members maybe 500 were or are Snipers. There could be more or there could be less...

But I don't think it would be smart for the current snipers in service to say "hey I'm a sniper" you don't do that in combat so why would you do it on the internet were and one with some computer smarts can track your IP and get your address, name, what ever...

But I DO have like 1600 sniper kills on BF3 so... You decide...

Let's not make this more than it is. Being a Sniper isn't any "Super Secret Squirrel" setup. It's a specialized job in our military. Proud? Absolutely. Better than anyone else? Nope, everyone has there place and there purpose. It's a combined effort and doesn't depend on any one job or skill set. Just a job............best job in there is!!! LOL.

I shot a deer once. Wounded it and had to beat it with a shovel..... It took about an hour. Does that make me a sniper?

I was awarded expert marksman ribbon at Air Force basic training using the M-16 .22 conversion, shooting at a simulated 500m target. For sure put me down on the list.

I was a 19D10mos and I've shot up a lot of shit. Can I be a sniper too?

Okay I also shot the piss out of an old M113 with belt of 7.62 in an M-60 at I think it was Fr. McCelland or Ft. Knox. Will that do?

I was with 2/3 Snipers from 1999-May 2002 and was a Instructor at 3rd Mar Div School from around May of 2002-Dec 2005 when I EAS'd. Did a.TAD deployment with 3/3 Snipers as the Cheif Scout/1st Team Leader to Afghanistan. Semper Fi Brother!

i was with 2/3 also! i work for the school house now as training NCO. Its part of SOI now so its different but the same. if you dont mind me asking or maybe PM me, whats your name? just wondering if i have heard of you or i can check for you on our classroom wall or something... thats crazy

The one I had to qualify with in Basic was a Jam-o-matic, from what I remember, that POS conversion wouldn't let me fire more then two rounds before I had a failure. Then you weren't allowed to clear it yourself, you had to raise your hand and have the RO come over and clear it for you.

OK I have a real "sniper story" a real "war story"

Back in the 70s I was heavy into duck and goose hunting on the Palmer Hay Fats near Anchorage.

There were a lot of "snipe" there, I mean a lot, I figured why not, I'll get a few, using my Remington 870 I got a pot full. I got them home and my wife was going to fix them up for freezing. If you ever ate "snipe", they are like dove, you just pop the breat out with your thumbs, that's all there is to eat on those little suckers and it takes quite a few to make a meal.

Anyway I had them setting on the cabinet with a lid on the pot to keep wife's cats out.

So the wife gets all ready to fix the and removes the lid. One of the little suckes popped his head up "chirp, chirp"............aparently he wasn't quite "sniped" all the way.

Wife lets out a scream, and I sleep on the couch that night.

Sniping is a very dangerous business.

probably pretty truamatic being shut in a pot with a bunch of dead bodies laying there wounded yourself haha should have left him alive to tell his friends
