Suppressors How much additional back pressure

Re: How much additional back pressure

What are you talking about?---<span style="font-weight: bold">Don't get pissed. Use your words!!

Also how does chopping the barrel pertain to reducing the back pressure on the system?

Back pressure on a system has to do with initial expansion chamber size. How close is the first blast baffle to the muzzle? How large is the aperture in the baffle? The smaller the aperture the larger the back pressure.

What EXACTLY are you worried about/hoping to accomplish?

Re: How much additional back pressure

yeah I did'nt get that either. Is the compensation for decrease in OAL, gas-impulse past the gas block, or (what I read) from the can itself in increase of back-pressure?

OP: If your worried about gas-operation, the rifle-length std gas system should still work fine at 20" (as designed) observing the gas tube length and shorter dwell to muzzle. Keeping at 20" I would'nt worry about needing mods to support using a can or in itslef. It's the same animal.

Agree.

And if it doesn't, just open up the gas port in the barrel a few thousands at a time until it does.

Re: How much additional back pressure

I dont know if this applies to whats going on but, A friend of mine put a supressor on his AR 16" barrel and it would go full auto (to much back pressure?) he had to take switch his jard trigger for a stock one and put a heavy buffer in to tame it down. my 2cents
