How to determine which neck bushing to use

I am new to bushing type dies. What is the best way to figure out which bushing to use for a particular caliber?

measure a loaded round and subtract 2 thou.

That's a pretty good way to start.

Do the above, then check the neck ID with a gage pin and adjust the bushing as needed.
