I just received my used Manners MCS-T stock. It feels heavy and would like to lighten it up. Is there a way to lighten it by possibly drilling holes in the forehand area under the barrel? Obviously you would have the be careful and not drill too deep.

Thanks

Re: How to lighten a stock????

Best might be to sell the stock and ask Manners to make a lighter one.
Milling out the forend and replacing with lighter filler is tedious and you might only get very little weight reduction.
Just drilling holes creates a dirt trap and could reduce strength and stiffness of the stock.

Depending of your buttpad you can save 1-3 ounces by replacing with a lightweight buttpad. The buttpads I use weigh 50 grams.

Remington 700 in 223 with Seekins DBM. Not sure on barrel contour but would like a bull barrel with same diameter at the muzzle as the Gem Tech HVT flash hider. The Manners is suppose to be already inletted for the Seekins SA DBM and trigger assembly.

I am having a hard time now getting in touch with my local gunsmith, so I thought I would try to see if some one else could help me.
