A friend of mine bought a socom 16, we are looking at scout scopes but cannot find anything other than the Leupold or Burris, he has about a grand to spend on a quality optics, can you guys think of any other choices like NF etc...
would a standard 1-4 scope work also
TIA.

Re: how to scope a socom 16

For scout scope that covers the entire field. Loopy and Burris the end.

Suggest a red dot or move to a conventional scope set up.

A 1-4 would work well. I had an Aimpoint on the forward rail on mine and it worked awesome

My friend did the Burris 2-7 with BDC reticle pistol scope with a Burris Fastfire hanging off. The 2-7 pistol scope is the perfect one for the SOCOM 16. Its eyerelief is just right for the whole magnification range and it is small, light, and compact.
