How to use an M40A3 Scope Rail

Hello. Can the M40A3 badger scope rail be installed on a standard 700 receiver? I was reading it is installed on a receiver with a clip slog but the 700 ADL I'm trying to use I don't think has that.

No, you need to have it lug slotted for that base.

Also, clip slotting is for M40A1s; the A3/A5s were lug slotted.
 
Thank you! Is that something difficult for a gun smith to do? Do you know of a look alike base that I could plug and play on my receiver?

It’s pretty straight forward for someone that has done it hundreds of times, which is who you want performing the procedure. Think of it as if you were looking for a surgeon for a critical operation you must have. Otherwise, it’s easy to fuck up and there goes your receiver.

You can check Badger and Nightforce bases to see if they offer a standard 30 MOA base but none with the “look” of the spec base that I’m aware of.
