Hey guys I have a Howa 1500 .223 and have just purchased the bushnell AR223 4.5-18x40 scope.

Which would be the best way to mount it ?
Mount it with rings directly to the receiver or to a picatinny rail ?
Also does anyone know if I need medium or high mounts ?
Does anyone else have this sort of setup ?
What are you opinions on the scope ?

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "mounting it directly to the receiver" because that is impossible to do with Howas. Howas do not have integral ring attachment points like the dovetails on many European rifles or the scallops on most Ruger centerfire rifles.

You will need a ring base (the receiver has holes drilled and tapped for this), whether than base is a MIL-STD-1903 or something else, that's up to you.

With a 40 mm objective, you should be just fine with medium rings.
