the acorns have really fallen in the masses this year around here, so the deer arent traveling very far which means its harder to see them. ive killed a buck here in PA and a buck in WV, but its the same story down there too.

Fairly slow in MO. Messed up and shot a small 8 on last day at last light. Good weather but lots of acorns and a bad case of EHD. Seen a lot of deer just all young ones. Today is last day of antlerless and haven't made it out yet. Windy as hell yesterday and pretty breezy today. Saw a few good ones that were killed around here this year but nothing real big, biggest probably in upper 160's.

18 Months into a new job. Have missed dear season for two years in a row. Best I did this year was going to a long range and sighting in 4 rifles out to 600 yards. Next year I will have accrued time off and the ability to enjoy deer season again.
Both of son's have gone hunting. One scored twice, the other called me to say he passed on a 4x4 mule deer because it wasn't big enough. (cruel and unusual punishment)
It is better to be employed and missing deer season that to be unemployed and not having the funds to hunt. I just miss hunting real bad.

My understanding, as for WV, is that the kill is waaay down this year. Of all the deer I have seen in the woods this season, most were pretty scrawny. I passed on two bucks (a small...I MEAN SMALL...4pt and a 5pt that wasn't much bigger). I took one doe early and one doe late in the first week, both of which were the bigger of the packs they were moving in, but still not any size worth mentioning. One went to a local shelter (HHH program) and the other is now in my deep freeze.

haha! sorry ORD. we hunt in ritchie county, so i dont think any of our deer wouldve made it to you up there. the litle joint we went to to check in our deer said the numbers were half of what they were last year. just a crappy season with the weather down there and it being a full moon in the first week, the deer just didnt move around like they have in years past. the buck i killed down there was a 7 point that was of decent size for a mountain deer. but other than him i only saw 3 doe, which he was actually following.

Well I got my trip lined up. Been at the lease for almost 2 months now. Seen a lot that looked like a good shot but still have pulled the trigger. I still have about 5 months of my hunt left. I will let you know how the hunt went when I return from Aghanistan.
