I reload in the basement/ garage. This time of year the humidity will increase in that area if the door has been opened.
I use the RCBS charge ilte.
How much does reloading in humidity effect loads?
Thanks

Thank you very much for the detailed information. The room is only humid at certain times (garage door open). I just wondered if I should avoid reloading at those times.

It’s a good question and I don’t know the answer. What I can tell you is that I keep my powder indoors in a dark closet, I charge my cases indoors using an FX-120 that’s been turned on an hour before I start, then I take my charged cases into the garage and seat bullets.

It’s minimal effort and inside is air conditioned...win, win.

This. ^^^^

The only thing I do in the garage is deprime, size and seat. Everything else (anneal, tumble, trim, prime and charge) is done inside the house, which obviously is more environmentally controlled.

You anneal inside too? Thats the only thing I do outside, and its induction even. It still puts off smoke.
In fact thats the only thing I dont do from my couch.
Well that and empty the tumbler into the sifter. I dont want the dust and crap bouncing out on my floors.

But to the OP: I dont think they little bit of time it is exposed to conditions outside, jug to hopper and hopper to case, is enough to alter it any significant degree. Keep it stored inside and the jugs closed when not pouring and youll be fine.

Yeah, I use an AMP (after SS tumbling), so no smoke at all. Perhaps a little bit of odor initially as the elements get hot, but other than that, no other issues.

ive done a specific test leaving powder in a chargemaster hopper for 3 weeks during the middle of the summer in humid conditions. i loaded 10 rds with it and then loaded 10rds with fresh powder from the same jug/lot, the velocity and consistency numbers were very telling.

suffice to say....dont leave your powder exposed to humid environments for lengths of time

Good to know. I have to admit I have left some in the hopper before. I stick one of the little dry packs in with it. ( the ones you find in packages)
